House developers have invested heavily in installing gadgets to control and help maintain living premises. There is a transition from the previously human-driven control to AI.
The transition will decrease service interruption to the bare minimum. The institutions are also installing wireless access points, touchless payment methods, food and service deliveries, and ordering in cafeterias.
Another change in student housing is attributed to public transport issues to the students.
With limited movement around the state and even the country, people have started refraining from using public transport. In its place, students are now using eco-friendly, convenient, energy-efficient, and cheap transport such as bikes, e-bikes, and cross-campus shuttle systems.
Institutions have begun improving on the diversity of unit types to sponsor students’ tastes and needs. They have now begun offering different trends like the studio style, family housing, and quad-style.
The pandemic has now regulated the number of tenants in an apartment. Diverse tastes have rapidly increased the urge to form new varieties to favor the students’ lifestyle preferences.
House owners should increase the luxury level in student accommodation by proper furnishing, stocking, and implementing newer styles.
Resident assistants (RA’s) are tasked with maintaining proper sanitation in the accommodation areas. They are mainly employed to allow students to settle down fast and assist in transitioning first-year students who have lived with parents to a student-centric environment.
However, with the new Covid-19 rules and protocols, the RA’s are now tasked with newer responsibilities. They are now to remind students to have their masks on at all times, have them refrain from congesting, and ensure they observe social distancing.

With the aroused wave of gender inclusivity, the exclusive male and female dorm areas are becoming rarer to pave the way for gender-neutral dorms. Most institutions in 2022 have upgraded and gone for all-gender housing as it embraces the vision of higher education.
This rule has become a new trend in higher institutions, and it is advisable to strive towards student engagement.
8. Moving Off the Dormitories
On-campus residences offered students accommodation but denied the students interactive student engagement. This made them seek other housing options and opt to live off-campus.
However, this year, there is a difference to what were previously called dorms.
