Your resume should be accurate, professional and to the point. Despite common misconceptions, you can write in bullet style. In fact, a subheading can be better than a full sentence. Because it makes your resume easier to read.
Whatever form your resume takes, the content should be action-oriented. In college, I learned about the STAR method, where each subsection describes the situation, tasks performed, actions, and results rather than detailing specific task tasks. I like the approach. Your resume should not be longer than one page. That is why it is important to use the space wisely. If you have internships and extracurricular experiences that span more than one page, you should also remove outdated activities and awards, such as those left over from your high school class. If your resume is more than one page long, you should remove any experience and skills that are not relevant to the position you are applying for. If you’re applying for different jobs, it’s recommended that you create multiple resumes. One for each job description. Like your resume, your cover letter should be professional and concise. It is not a good idea to repeat what you say on your resume, i.e. previous work experience. Instead, you should use the cover letter as an opportunity to market yourself to the company. Your cover letter should demonstrate your values and interests. and to what extent these values are aligned with the values of the company. It should also highlight your soft skills and other relevant non-work experience. And how can these skills help you succeed in this position?
The same formatting principles apply to your cover letter as to your CV. The insertion of bullets is allowed. Although full sentences are required. After all, you’re writing a letter. Too many job applicants make the mistake of forgetting to change their company name. That’s a surefire way of not getting hired. I suggest you export the two documents side by side and work from there.
If possible, send any cover letter. If this information is not available and you have exhausted all your means to obtain it. You can address the letter as follows: “Dear Recruiter” or “To whom it may concern”. The more invest in your application.
Contrary to popular belief, the interview process does not begin when you walk into the interviewer’s office. It starts from the moment you submit your application. It is important to thoroughly research all the companies you are interviewing with before arriving, what are their values, visions and ideals? What is its mission or value? What does the current business climate look like? Who are the competitors? How is it different from them? What is the organizational structure? (and what are the possibilities or limitations)? What are the latest projects and company announcements? Are there more details about the position you are applying for than the vacancy? By answering these and similar questions before the interview, you can better tailor your answers to your company and job openings.
