Buying an iron with a steam generator: what are the 3 main points to consider?

With steam generators being widely used, it’s easy to feel lost due to the sheer number of features you’re likely to encounter. But how can you choose the most suitable steam generator iron for you and your family when you are faced with a really large selection of styles from every brand name? If you want services of the heat press for t shirts contact us.

There are many other features that can make a steam generator iron even better suited to your needs, such as the base material, the buttons along the concave bottom, the soft grip handle, the digital display and more. However, it may have more to do with the user’s personal preferences than an issue that will change the way your iron actually functions.

Let’s take a look at three key things that affect iron performance.

1. You are correct in assuming that steam is crucial and that you place steam generators differently from traditional steam irons. The quality of steam that your steam generator can produce is probably the only important point to consider.

This steam production is measured in grams per minute (c/minute), which usually ranges from 70 to 140 grams per minute (70-140 grams/minute).

Since this is steam that allows you to iron faster, you should seriously consider this measurement – the higher the steam production, the faster you iron!

Typically, 120 grams per minute is more than enough to smooth out your family and shorten the time it usually takes.

2. Once you have determined how many grams of steam your iron can produce per minute, your next metric is the pressure at which the steam is delivered. This measurement is measured and displayed in a strip. Again, the higher this number, the better and stronger the pressure. Ideally, a rating of 3.5 or higher is appropriate, but a rating of 4.5 or 5 would be better and can help cut your ironing time by almost half.

This pressure allows steam to rise deep into your garment, which in turn calms the fibers and allows you to quickly remove unwanted creases from your clothing. Because this steam is much stronger than traditional steam irons, it penetrates the front and back of the garment at the same time, so there’s really no need to iron on both sides – even on thick fabrics, for example. Jeans.

3. The last thing you can remember is that all the steam production we were talking about probably comes from somewhere, but where?

Well, a water tank for a steam generator is located in your base unit, unlike traditional irons which carry water to the iron itself.

Since we now use more steam than a regular steam iron, you are right in thinking that you need more water to create the steam needed for ironing.

So the last thing to consider when choosing your new iron is the size of the water tank. After all, you don’t have to fill it every 30-40 minutes, right?

However, as a consideration, you may need a steam generator iron that ideally combines a water tank capacity of at least 1 liter. Some models of water tanks, including the Tefal Pro Express GV8330, can hold up to 1.8 liters, which is enough for about 3 hours of continuous ironing.
